It’s this daring storytelling that keeps me coming back for more Dresden Files. The scene were the loup-garu escapes from his cell and goes on a killing rampage is really intense and traumatic for the characters. That is not the case with The Dresden Files and in this book, the hidden world of werewolves is brutally revealed to the humans of Chicago, especially with the Chicago PD. With these books about magic and wizards, often times one of the rules of the story is that magic has to remain separate from normal humans as the humans can never find out about this hidden magical world. This book was the book that really drew me into The Dresden Files when I read it for the first time. However, by the end of this book they are back on track due to them being force to work together to survive. There is more conflict between them in previous stories. In this book it’s a little frosty as Murphy is still mad about Harry lying to her in the previous book. We get see more of Karrin Murphy and her relationship with Harry Dresden.
We are introduced to various types of werewolves as well as characters we’ve met before. This book deals with werewolves and how they fit into the world of the Dresden Files. We revisit Harry Dresden a year later after the events of Book One: Storm Front.
